Solar Panel Recycling

Solar Panel Recycling

We installed the systems. We manage their end-of-life.

Recycle panels responsibly instead of paying for landfill dumping.

Dispose of old panels in a way that meets sustainability and compliance expectations.

Your panels are processed in line with regulatory and environmental standards.

Solar panels in Australia are now reaching their end-of-life, there is a growing need for a sustainable way to dispose of panels, keeping them out of landfill. Solar Renew is designed to be a solution to this problem.

We have a semi-automated solar PV panel recycling plant that safely delaminates and separates every panel component without cross contamination.

Panels are opened and stripped into their core layers using a controlled, purpose-built system.

Glass, aluminium, copper, silicon and polymers are separated and repurposed into new products.

All materials enter approved Australian recycling streams at the Kurrajong Wagga Wagga facility.

Solar Recycling
FAQs

Solar panels are carefully dismantled so their individual materials can be recovered and recycled. Components such as glass, aluminium, copper, silicon and polymers are separated and sent into approved recycling streams rather than being sent to landfill.

Solar panels contain valuable materials that can be recovered and reused. Landfilling panels wastes these resources and can create long-term environmental management issues. Recycling ensures materials are responsibly processed and returned to productive use.

Panels are processed through a semi-automated delamination system that safely separates the panel layers. Once opened, materials such as glass, aluminium frames, wiring and internal components are separated before entering recycling streams.

Most solar panels contain materials that can be recycled, including glass, aluminium frames, copper wiring, silicon cells and various polymers. Recovering these materials helps reduce waste and supports the circular use of resources.

Most solar systems are designed to operate for 15-20  years, but performance can decline earlier depending on equipment quality, installation standards and environmental conditions. Signs a system may be nearing end of life include reduced energy production, recurring inverter faults, physical panel damage, or components becoming outdated or non-compliant with current standards.

If you are unsure, TSP Protect, our maintenance and asset management division, can carry out a professional inspection to assess system performance, safety and remaining lifespan. Based on the findings, we can recommend repair, repowering with newer technology, or responsible solar panel recycling where appropriate.
